Learner Help Center

Go to Bookings > Lessons, locate your scheduled session, and click Reschedule.
The 12-Hour Rule: Rescheduling more than 12 hours in advance is completely free. If you try to reschedule with less than 12 hours' notice, the system may block it, or the teacher may charge you for the reserved time.
If you cancel a lesson more than 12 hours before the start time, you receive a 100% refund credited back to your Speaklay Wallet. Cancellations made inside the 12-hour window will result in a partial refund or no refund at all.
Log in and navigate to your Dashboard or Manage Lessons page. A countdown timer will display your next lesson. A few minutes before class starts, the "Enter Classroom" button will appear. Click it to launch the video session.
If you fail to join the classroom, the teacher is instructed to wait for 15-20 minutes. After this waiting period, the teacher can mark the lesson as "Completed." No refunds are issued for unexcused no-shows.
If your teacher didn't show up or there was a severe technical failure, go to Manage Lessons > Completed and click Report Issue. This temporarily locks the teacher's payment until the dispute is resolved between you, the teacher, or the Site Admin.
If a teacher assigns a quiz to your lesson, it will appear under the lesson details. Click the attached quiz link to begin. Auto-graded quizzes will show your score immediately upon submission.
During checkout, you can select the "Recurring Buy" option to reserve the same time slot every week. The system will automatically renew this booking and charge your payment method every 28 days (4 weeks).
A Class Package is a bundle of Group Classes sold together at a fixed price. You pay a single entry fee, and you are automatically enrolled in all the dates and times listed inside that specific package.
Yes! If the teacher has enabled certificates for their pre-recorded course or quiz, a digital certificate of completion/achievement will automatically generate for you to download once you pass the final assessment.
Use the Find a Tutor directory. You can filter the list by Subject, Language, Price Range, and Availability. Look for the "Enable Trial Lesson" badge on a teacher's profile to book a discounted introductory session.
You must complete all 5 tabs in the registration wizard: Personal Info, Profile Media, Subjects, Resume, and Confirmation.
Mandatory: You must upload a valid Photo ID (JPG/PNG/PDF) and provide a YouTube link for your Introduction Video. Your profile remains "Pending" until Admin approval.
General Availability dictates your permanent, recurring weekly schedule. Weekly Availability is used to override specific calendar dates (like taking a holiday off). The system always prioritizes Weekly availability over General availability.
Found in Personal Info, this setting (Immediate, 12h, or 24h) protects you from last-minute bookings. If you select 24 hours, students cannot book a lesson that begins less than 24 hours from the current time.
Go to Account Settings > Personal Info and click "Sync Google Calendar." This is a two-way sync: Speaklay lessons appear on your Google Calendar, and Google events automatically block out slots on your Speaklay schedule.
If you update or change your Timezone setting in your profile, the system immediately resets all your availability. You must re-configure your General and Weekly calendar manually after any timezone change.
Navigate to Bookings > Class Packages. You must define the Total Package Fee (which splits evenly across classes) and then input the individual Start Time and Title for every single class included in that bundle.
Once at least one student has purchased a seat in your Group Class or Package, the system disables the "Edit" button to protect the student's purchase. You can no longer change the time or price.
Go to All Courses > Add Course. Fill out the Basic Details, upload a preview video, build your Curriculum (Sections and Lectures), and define your Pricing. Click "Submit for Approval." The Admin must review it before it goes live.
Go to Bookings > My Learners. Find the specific student and click Offer Price. You can set a custom percentage discount that will only be visible to that specific learner during checkout.
Yes. Under your Lessons > Completed tab, you can still click "Attach Lesson Plan" or "Attach Quiz" to send homework, reviews, or study materials to the student after the session concludes.
Go to History > Withdrawals and click Request Withdrawal. You can choose PayPal or Bank Payout. You must ensure your payout details are saved under Account Settings > Payments before requesting.
All withdrawal requests are manually reviewed by the Site Admin for security purposes. The funds will remain deducted from your wallet but will show as "Pending" until the Admin approves the bank or PayPal transfer.
Depending on platform settings and gateway rules, processing fees may apply to Bank or PayPal transfers. Any applicable fees will be displayed in the "Txn Fee" column of your withdrawal history.
Funds are credited directly to your Digital Wallet only after a session status is marked as "Completed" and no issues have been reported by the student.
When a student books a lesson, the funds are held securely in escrow ("In Progress"). The money is not released to the teacher until the lesson is successfully delivered.
Navigate to History > Wallet and click "Recharge Wallet." Enter the amount and select your preferred payment gateway (Credit Card, PayPal, or Bank Transfer) to instantly add funds.
Go to History > Wallet and click "Redeem Gift Card." Enter the unique code provided to you, and the card's value will be instantly added to your wallet balance.
Yes! Because Speaklay uses a dual-profile system, your Wallet balance is unified. You can use funds earned from teaching to seamlessly book lessons with other tutors when switched to your Learner profile.
Go to History > My Orders. Find the transaction, click the "View" icon, and then select "Download Invoice" to save a PDF copy for your tax or personal records.
If a student clicks "Report Issue" after a lesson, your payment is temporarily suspended. You must go to Reported Issues to communicate with the student, offer a resolution (like a partial refund), or escalate it to the Admin.
Navigate to Others > Refer and Earn to find your unique invite link. You earn Reward Points whenever a new user registers via your link or completes their first purchase.
On the "Refer and Earn" page, click the Redeem to Wallet button. The system will convert your accumulated reward points into actual currency based on the Admin's conversion rate, adding it straight to your wallet.
Go to Forum > My Questions and click "Ask Question." You must provide a Title, an SEO-friendly URL Slug, select a Subject, and assign relevant topic Tags before publishing.
Check your question settings. If the "Publish Question" toggle is turned off, the post is saved as a Draft and will only be visible to you on your personal dashboard. Toggle it on to make it public.
If a specific topic tag is missing while asking a question, click the "Request New Tag" button next to the field. Provide the tag name and subject. Once the Admin approves it, you can attach it to your post.
Go to Forum > Subscribed Tags. Use the search bar to find subjects you are interested in (like "Spanish Grammar") and subscribe to them. You will be notified when new questions are posted under those tags.
No, users cannot delete comments made by others to preserve the integrity of the discussion. However, you can report inappropriate or spam comments for Admin review.
Found in Others > Notes, this tool lets you type subject-specific observations during or after a lesson. Any note a teacher creates for a session is automatically shared and saved in the attending student's dashboard.
Click the Find a Tutor submodule. This directs you to the global directory where you can browse active teachers, apply sorting filters (Popularity, Price), and book one-on-one sessions.
Forum posts are ranked by community engagement. Posts with high amounts of Likes, active Comment threads, and questions marked as "Resolved" are pushed to the top of the Recommended Posts feed.
